Truth:
Sometimes
When I get too scared to do something myself, I make my kids do it.
Confession:
Tiny print to fake out the glancer-overs: Once upon a time when Benson was only two years old he and I were alone in my room going to sleep because Michael was out of town. We heard a loud noise out in the family room of our apartment and looked at each other. I may have sent my little son to go check out what the noise was figuring no one would hurt a little child (if it were an intruder). Luckily it turned out to be nothing or I might be writing this post from a prison cell.Confession #2:
Once upon a time last week I decided to try out hair coloring from a box at the grocery store on my girls. I had watched a youtube video and had more than willing subjects, so why not? Fold a little tinfoil, wipe on some stuff, wait a little while.... how hard can it be? Let's just say I might have had a few panicky sweaty moments. It's just hair, right? Lesson learned: I will never add highlights to my own hair. Too scary. This is the BEFORE picture. The curly hair was from braids. Cute girl. Hope I don't un-cute her. No, that's impossible!! (I hoped)
This girl trusts me way too much. I love her for it.
She has a ton of hair! And I forgot to turn the timer on! She is really rather calm considering she is my first customer ever.
I know, I KNOW! I'm like professional! Amazing what a flat iron and a blowing fan can do to make beautiful hair.
Jessica couldn't wait to get my hands on her, but I warned her that she wouldn't be a blond. More like a chocolate caramel. I think a trick to being a good hairstylist is to sell how beautiful you will make them. And then you better live up to it. Since I had so much experience now...well one success anyway, I was pretty sure I could make all her dreams come true....
Mmmmmm.... chocolate caramel.
One box. Two happy girls.
A relieved mom that we didn't have to shave anybody's hair off right before school started.

You have very brave girls!! Mine never trusted me enough to do their highlights.
Fun "Minute to Win Its" chocolate unicorn - stack 7 unwrapped ding dongs one at a time on your forehead; toss playing cards into a watermelon; blow cups off a table with air from a balloon you blow up; junk in the trunk - tape an empty kleenex box on your rear end and shake out 8 ping pong balls; hanky panky - pull tissues one at a time out of a kleenex box with one hand; nervous Nellie - strap 4 pedometers on your body and rackup the miles; blow 4 ping pong balls across a finish line on the floor with a party blower that curls up and uncurls when blown.
To name a few. xo Brooke
Okay, you need to ask my mom about when we tried to do this when I was in 5th grade.... It is the horror story of all hair horror stories!!! Your girls look darling though, good job!!
Beautiful pictures. My goodness, I hope Michael is working on getting a shotgun for when these girls get older....
Remember the time when I gave you and your sisters a perm? I know how you felt about doing something to your girl's hair. I kept my fingers crossed when I did that too!!
They look great. If I come visit, will you do mine?
Emily! You are so brave. Looks like there is nothing you can't do! Your girls are beautiful!
