Mom's Miracle

My mom has been the focus of my last few weeks.  Actually months.

The short story of the long story.  My mom has been so sick and lost so much weight, essentially a slow death of starvation- down to under 100 pounds.  Since last May she was misdiagnosed and then no-diagnosed and recently accurately diagnosed with Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome.  Basically she had arteries that were strangling her upper intestine.  See a fascinating youtube video describing one person's experience with it here.

It's a miracle she's with us.

Last night she came home after surgery and 10 days of hospital care and she's on her way back to the land of the living.  They rerouted her intestines so it was pretty major and she loves to show off her huge scar, ew.  My sister and my dad and I put in some serious hospital time, which was a trick with trying to float my family along in the meantime.

I have to say she's a tough woman who's been through SO MUCH and we all want her well again, with some meat on those grandma bones!

p.s. I am not a fan of health problems.

Wow...I should have walked the stairs with you in Phoenix...or spent a little more time visiting instead of climbing cliffs on Saturday night!! You hid the stress very well...can you give me lessons? I'm just glad to hear she's up and around again!!

So glad she's doing better. Sounds like quite an ordeal.
